Matching new dog owners to suitable online trainers

Matching new dog owners to suitable online trainers

Web

Responsive design

GoodPaw is an online dog training app that aims to make finding a dog trainer as easy and pain free as possible. Once a trainer has been found through a series of detailed matching questions, the app provides support for both new and experienced dog owners to continue with their ongoing remote training.

My role: Product Designer in CareerFoundry's UX bootcamp, from user research to UI.

Timeline: December 2020 - March 2021

My role: Product Designer in CareerFoundry's UX bootcamp, from user research to UI.

Timeline: December 2020 - March 2021

Problem

In 2020 dog owning exploded, with 3.2 million households acquiring a pet since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, with lockdowns in place dog training became increasingly difficult, causing added stress and anxiety for the owners.

On top of this, every dog and owner are different with very unique needs and it can be overwhelming to find the right class, trainer or training technique because there are so many options out there.

Hypothesis: We believe by creating an app that allows the user to customise what they require from a trainer, we will reduce time spent searching and avoid stress for the owner and dog.

Final product

I used the Design Thinking process to successfully meet a brief set by CareerFoundry's UX bootcamp. The responsive web app I designed allows users to complete essential tasks:

  • Get matched to a suitable online trainer and save them for later

  • Book and participate in an online session

  • Upload requested homework videos

  • Add goals to a personal progress tracker

  • Find and save how-to videos
